Rehabilitation & Laser Therapy

Rehabilitation uses holistic therapies to treat pain and improve healing for your pet.

Rehabilitation

At Canmore Veterinary Hospital we offer different forms of rehabilitation therapies to encourage healing and improve your pet’s quality of life. Our rehabilitation therapy team includes a certified rehabilitation therapist, a physical therapist certified in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy and a veterinary medical assistant. We can assess your pet’s condition and create a rehabilitation routine that will work best for them.

What conditions can be treated with rehabilitation?

We use manual therapy, massage, therapeutic laser, e-stim and strength and core training to help pets suffering from the following conditions:

  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Orthopedic injuries
  • Neurological conditions
  • Recovery after surgery

If your pet is suffering from these conditions, speak with your veterinarian to learn how rehabilitation can help. Please call us at 403-678-4425.

What are the benefits of rehabilitation for my pet?

Rehabilitation can help your loyal companion in the following ways:

  1. Prevent other injuries
  2. Increase speed of recovery
  3. Improve joint and nerve function
  4. Reduce muscle loss

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is one of the holistic treatments we provide at our hospital. It is often used on pets who suffer from chronic pain or are recovering from surgeries or injuries. We have seen great success with patients after just three sessions of laser therapy.

How does laser therapy work?

Laser therapy uses light beams to stimulate healing. These beams can be of different wavelengths depending on how deep they need to penetrate. The light will activate cells and electrons which relieve pain and inflammation and trigger the release of endorphins.

What conditions can be treated with laser therapy?

Laser therapy may be recommended for your pet if they have the following health problems:

  1. Arthritis
  2. Hair loss
  3. Allergies
  4. Hot spots
  5. Lick granulomas
  6. Inflammation
  7. Infection
  8. Hip dysplasia
  9. Traumatic skin injuries
  10. Surgical wounds
  11. Sprains and strains
